How to Choose the Perfect Curtain Fabric
· Rohan Kapoor
Choosing curtain fabric comes down to light, privacy and style.
Light. Sheer and semi-sheer fabrics soften bright rooms. For bedrooms and media rooms, choose blackout or a thick, closely woven fabric.
Function. Heavier fabrics such as velvet or jacquard give more privacy and some insulation from heat and noise. Linen blends are lighter and let more air and daylight through.
Style. Brocade and damask suit traditional rooms. Plain textures and matte finishes suit contemporary ones.
Care. In busy rooms, choose a fabric that is easy to clean, and check the care label before you buy.
