How to Choose Fabrics for Commercial Spaces

Commercial spaces ask more of a fabric than homes do. These are the points to check.
Wear. Ask for the abrasion rating (for example a Martindale figure) for upholstery, and check it suits the use.
Fire safety. Public buildings usually need fabric that meets fire rules. Ask for the test certificate for the particular fabric and the standard it was tested to.
Cleaning. Check how the fabric is cleaned, and how often, before choosing.
Look. Colour and texture should suit the brand and the room.
Sound. Heavy curtains and layered window treatments can reduce echo in open rooms.
